Bottaia is also home to a semi-Olympic size pool, splash pad for the kids, 30 cabines (traditional Italian beach changing rooms), and a Poolside Bar & Café—providing a one-of-a-kind experience that blends wine, food, and resort-style hospitality.

Job Summary

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager is responsible for supporting the daily operations, guest experience, and sales performance of Bottaia Winery’s Tasting Rooms. This position plays a key leadership role in ensuring consistent service standards, meeting tasting room sales goals, developing and motivating associates, and maintaining operational excellence across hospitality, wine education, point-of-sale processes, and retail presentation.

The Assistant Tasting Room Manager partners closely with the Tasting Room Manager and Wine Club Manager to maximize revenue, strengthen wine club growth and retention, and ensure all guests receive an exceptional and welcoming experience.

Schedule

  • Wednesday-Sunday
  • Must be available to work weekends, holidays, and peak seasons
  • Flexibility required to support business needs

Compensation: $70,000-$73,000 annually DOE

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Guest Experience & Hospitality Leadership

  • Lead by example to ensure an elevated, consistent, and friendly guest experience in all areas of the Bottaia Winery Tasting Rooms.
  • Support service recovery efforts by responding promptly and professionally to guest concerns or complaints.
  • Serve as a visible leader on the floor, coaching associates in realtime to maintain service standards.

Sales Performance & Wine Club Support

  • Support the Winery Manager in achieving monthly and annual tasting room sales and revenue goals.
  • Partner with the Wine Club Manager to maximize wine club sign-ups, retention, and overall member engagement.
  • Ensure associates are trained on effective selling techniques, promotions, and incentives.
  • Assist with sales reporting, performance tracking, and identifying opportunities to improve revenue.

Team Leadership, Training & Scheduling

  • Assistwith hiring, training, coaching, and developing tasting room associates.
  • Help manage employee scheduling and daily staffing plans to meet service and business demands.
  • Review and approve associate timecards.
  • Assign and direct work, support performance management, andassistwith corrective action as needed.

Operational Excellence, POS & Cash Handling

  • Maintain operational consistency across the tasting rooms, including:
  • Opening and closing procedures
  • Cash handling and drawer accountability
  • Point-of-sale processes and integrity
  • SOP adherence and quality standards
  • Assistwith payroll reporting, sales rankings, and commission calculations when applicable.

Compliance, Safety & HR Standards

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations related to:
  • Alcohol service and consumption safety
  • Labor and wage/hour requirements
  • California meal and rest period compliance
  • Ensure associatesmaintainrequired permits/licensing (server permits and food handler cards as applicable).
  • Respond to emergencies using company protocol, prioritizing guest and associate safety.

Retail, Merchandising & Brand Standards

  • Ensure retail and merchandise areas are fully stocked, organized, clean, and presented in a way that supports revenue and guest experience.
  • Helpmaintainunique and on-brand merchandise offerings.
  • Ensure the tasting room environment reflects the BOTTAIA brand and reinforces consistent messaging.

Events Support

  • Assist with the execution of private events, such as Wine Club Member events.
  • Assistwith andrespond to event requests and communication.
  • Support scheduling, staffing, oversight, and event execution (including setup/tear down).

Facilities, Cleanliness & Inventory Support

  • Maintain an inviting, organized, clean, and properly stocked tasting room environment at all times.
  • Monitor supplies and coordinatepurchasingneeds.
  • Coordinate facility and cleanliness concerns with the Tasting Room Manager, Facilities, and Housekeeping leaders to support operational presentation and safety.

Other

  • Fill in as needed (cashier/server/support roles) to maintain guest service and operational flow.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by your Manager.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Requirements

  • Must be 21+ years of age.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and guest service (including service recovery).
  • Ability to multi-task, stay organized, andmaintainattention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; experiencewith ADP Workforce Now, Commerce7, and TOAST POS preferred.
  • Strong wine knowledge and ability to coach/train associates on product and sales techniques.
  • Willing to obtain/maintainrequired permits/certifications (e.g., Food Handler, Responsible Beverage Service/Server Permit as applicable).
