The Community Development Department is currently recruiting for two (2) Part-time, Temporary, Parking Control Officers.

Status: Part-Time, Temporary (up to 960 hours)

Assignment: Limited Term

Pay: Competitive hourly rate (non-exempt)

The Part-Time Parking Control Officer plays a crucial role in enforcing parking regulations within the City of Moreno Valley, ensuring compliance with municipal codes and promoting public safety. This position involves patrolling assigned areas on foot or by vehicle, identifying violations, and issuing citations in a fair and professional manner. Additionally, officers respond to public inquiries about parking, providing helpful information regarding parking rules and city services. They are also responsible for preparing accurate reports and maintaining detailed records of enforcement activities. The role requires working independently in outdoor environments, exercising sound judgment, and assisting with traffic flow and special events as needed, all while delivering courteous customer service to address parking concerns.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATES

The City of Moreno Valley is seeking two (2) dedicated individuals to join our team as Temporary Part-Time Parking Control Officers. In this role, you will be responsible for enforcing parking regulations, issuing citations, and ensuring compliance with local ordinances to maintain safe and accessible streets. Duties include patrolling assigned areas, responding to parking-related inquiries, and preparing accurate reports. Candidates should possess strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a commitment to providing excellent public service. A valid California driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. This position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to contribute to community safety while gaining valuable experience in municipal operations.

Minimum And Desirable Qualifications

A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills, and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D equivalent, and some experience as a Parking Control Officer for another municipality, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Previous experience as a Parking Control Officer or in the public sector is highly desirable.

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS

Temporary Part-time Parking Control Officers are responsible for performing City-wide parking control functions, such as enforcing parking and street-sweeping ordinances, towing and impounding abandoned and inoperative vehicles, and issuing citations. An incumbent is expected to be knowledgeable of state and city laws, ordinance, procedures and practices pertaining to motor vehicle and parking enforcement and to carry out assignments with autonomy and accountability.

The Community Development Department provides a variety of development and business services related to enhancing the quality of life in the community. The Community Enhancement & Neighborhood Services Division is responsible for enforcing codes related to neighborhood nuisances, health & safety, substandard housing, vehicle abatement, illegal dumping, improper signage, parking control, and weed abatement. Community Enhancement staff also manages the City’s Rotational Tow Service, Graffiti Restitution, Shopping Cart Retrieval program, and the Foreclosure Registration Program.
