Job Summary

Performs a variety of routine clerical duties in support of the medical transcription function.Essential Responsibilities:

  • Sorts and distributes transcribed reports.
  • Gathers missing identification data and types missing data into the transcribed reports.
  • Flags reports for physicians attention of lacking all information.
  • Follows up on problem dictation for completion and/or redirection.
  • Assists in the operation of the overall central dictation system by locating missing dictation, re-recording dictated information, maintaining tapes, and alerting appropriate party of urgent needed reports.
  • Responds to inquiries regarding dictated reports.
  • Delivers reports to nursing unit.
  • Answers department telephone.
  • Orders and maintains department supplies.
  • Maintains properly working equipment and reports problems to Department Administrator.
  • Monitors timeliness of Admission H&Ps.
  • Monitors timeliness of Operative Reports.
  • Establishes and maintains courteous, cooperative relations w/ the public, patients, and other personnel.
  • Performs other related duties.
  • Promotes, ensures, and improves customer service to internal/external customers by demonstrating skills which are consistent w/ the organizations philosophy of providing extraordinary customer relations and quality service.
