Job Summary And Qualifications

The Nurse Manager assumes 24-hour responsibility for planning, supervising, and evaluating the care of patients to ensure comprehensive and continuous care for each patient/family in the unit and shift of responsibility. This involves management and responsibilities for diverse categories of personnel for patient care. The Nurse Manager position requires in-depth productivity management, knowledge of management principles, communication, teaching/learning principles, nursing practice, and the ability to apply nursing theories. Acceptance of the philosophy and policies of the nursing unit and of the institution are essential. The position requires skill in interpersonal communication, group dynamics, problem solving, delegation, interviewing, observation, counseling, and teaching. The Nurse Manager must evaluate personnel, assess environment, and determine priorities for care in order to plan, implement, and evaluate outcomes of care. The Nurse Manager must function effectively in stressful situations.

Applies nursing innovation methods, evidence based practice and technology in collaboration with the director and as appropriate for unit of responsibility.
Assists the Director in organizing unit level process improvement teams. Oversees and provides support.
Implements and monitors new patient programs as requested by the service director using process improvement methods to measure effectiveness.
In conjunction with the Director, establishes standards, communicates expectations to staff, and holds nursing staff accountable of performance and behavior.
Coordinates patient flow, staff assignments and acts as a resource for clinical activities and monitors staff compliance to assure clinical quality.

What qualifications you will need

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor of Nursing required. Masters Degree preferred.
Valid California RN license - REQUIRED
Current BCLS and ACLS certification - REQUIRED
National RN Certification - PREFERRED
Minimum two years in an acute care management position - REQUIRED
Extensive clinical nursing experience in an acute care Emergency Department - REQUIRED

Riverside Community Hospital is a large acute care facility with 517 beds, established in 1901. It has the most extensive Emergency Room and Level I Trauma Center in the Inland Empire region and is the primary recipient of STEMI (heart attack) cases in Riverside County. The hospital is accredited as a Chest Pain Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center and has a HeartCare Institute that offers both invasive and non-invasive cardiac procedures. Riverside has a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, which it is very proud of.
