New Business Development Manager

Are you a dynamic sales professional ready to take charge and drive growth in a thriving environment? Join our team as a New Business Development Manager, where you will spearhead initiatives to capture and expand market share within our division.
Your primary focus will be on Division customers with sales potential exceeding $0.5 million annually. You will be responsible for generating new account revenue, aligned with our ambitious targets: at least $2 million in your first year and $6 million annually thereafter. You will utilize Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to guide your efforts, focusing on:
- Identifying and opening accounts with the highest potential
- Maximizing sales dollars
- Driving gross profit growth
In this role, you will
- Source and develop high-potential new business, transitioning accounts effectively to a Territory Manager (TM) to meet annual sales and profit operating goals.
- Conduct thorough research into potential customer requirements, including menu design, business size, and current suppliers. Stay informed about market trends, product innovations, and competitors to provide value-added services and fresh menu ideas.
- Collaborate with Category and Segment Specialists to create tailored pricing and order guides for prospective accounts.
- Assist in onboarding new customers by completing credit applications and working with the Customer Solutions Coordinator and Sales Coordinator to ensure a seamless handover.
- Leverage company IT tools for opportunity identification and progress tracking, while maintaining a robust pipeline of emerging clients.
- Participate selectively in the SOS process for new accounts at risk of churn—visit customers to address concerns and adapt proposals as necessary.
- Develop strong relationships with key decision-makers and leverage industry contacts to follow their career movements.
- Attend sales meetings, food shows, and industry events to network effectively.
- Share your expertise by presenting at 1-2 sales meetings per year, focusing on account research, warming, penetration, and closing techniques.

Education and Training
- High School diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Related Experience
- A minimum of 3 years of sales experience is required.
- At least 3 years of experience opening accounts greater than $0.5 million, preferably within the foodservice industry.
- Exceptional sales and interpersonal skills with a proven record of converting and closing high-potential accounts.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- A knack for building relationships, both internally and externally, to achieve business goals.
- Confidence in presenting to large groups, combined with creative presentation skills.
- Highly motivated, results-driven, and detail-oriented, with the ability to thrive under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required.
Overnight travel may be necessary to participate in trainings, meetings, or other company events.
